Sharon Mormann is retiring on May 25, 2021 after working at Marian Manor HealthCare Center for 50 years.
She was hired as a dietary aide on May 25, 1971 two days after her high school graduation. The next year, the administrator Clarence Wetzel approached Sharon and asked if she would like to work in the business office. She transferred to the office as a bookkeeper in November 1972 and handled all aspects of the office including billing, payroll and all clerical functions. In September 1975, she completed the ART program and became an Accredited Records Technician which later became RHIT or Registered Health Information Technician.
She has provided medical record consulting services to other nursing homes in the region over the years. As office demands increased, multiple staff assisted with functions such as payroll until another full-time position was added in the late 1980s. At that time, Sharon was promoted to the Office Manager and continues today in that position. T
he most significant change that she has seen in the last 50 years would be moving from hand written paychecks and typewritten documents to total computerized systems including electronic medical records. She will definitely miss the residents and the staff. The one thing she will not miss is mowing grass and shoveling snow as she is moving to a condo in Bismarck with plans to spend more time with her sister Elaine and her husband Dennis.
She also will enjoy having time with her extended family including 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 2 great nieces, 2 great nephews and spouses and soon to arrive two great-great babies.
The Marian Manor staff and Board of Directors wishes Sharon the very best in her retirement and a special thanks for her many years of dedication and service.
